When you step into Grace Coffee Co, you don’t feel like you’re in Wisconsin. The carefully-crafted aesthetics of each location engage a sense of wanderlust and contentment all at the same time. Instagrammable wall murals, an abundance of tropical plants, and artistic lighting make it somewhat dreamy and other-worldly.

For those of you with furry canine companions – they’re welcome here too. Owner and founder Carlos Falcon brings Pablo the dog to the cafes to hang out with anyone who needs a furry friend to brighten their day.

Seeking to impress in every aspect of their cafe, Grace uses Onyx Coffee Labs to craft their coffee beverages. The baristas were extremely friendly as they whipped up some drinks for us today.

Ready, set, ‘spro!

Gingerbread Latte – This was a super well-rounded drink. It’s flavorful without drowning out the taste of the espresso. So comforting but not too sweet. They nailed it!
Iced Caramel Latte – Nobody’s shocked to see an iced latte in our hands, but our bar is pretty high when it comes to an amazing iced beverage. This one hits it! Not too sugary sweet, authentic tasting, and definitely highlights the notes of the espresso.
Cortado – A sign of a dedicated barista: No matter the size of the beverage, they still get that latte art in there! This cortado was blissfully strong. We were surprised to find that this had a unique fruity taste (think kiwi) and it sits a bit on the tropical side, but has a nice cocoa finish.
Latte – Unflavored, this was still awesome and smooth. An unflavored latte can speak volumes about the quality of the coffee beans, and this one did not disappoint.
The pastries are baked fresh every day. The dough is prepared at Grace’s Sun Prairie location but baked on location here at the Middleton Cafe.
Grace makes it super easy to order from a mobile device.
Almond Croissant – This would be an excellent pair with any drink because it’s not extremely sweet and the almond flavor is nice and strong. It’s filled with almond custard, so beware–it’s messy but SO worth it!
Lemon Scone – Scones can be hit-or-miss, and this was definitely a hit. Surprisingly moist and perfectly lemony (yes, that’s a word…now), the kids descended upon it like locusts–but luckily it was big enough to share!
Blackberry Danish – Another well-balanced pastry! The custard in this was balanced very well with the tart blackberries.
French Toast – Tons of French toast drizzled with syrup and topped with fresh fruit. The picture does it justice–it was exactly as good as it looks! This order is on the sweeter side, but you won’t leave hungry!
Breakfast Sandwich – Egg, bacon, and greens with a side of seasoned potato wedges. It’s a classy yet simple breakfast and looks and feels legit – no sad-looking mystery ingredients!

It’s no secret that service to patrons is extremely vital to a great coffee shop. That’s why we feel we need to comment on it, especially when the baristas take time to talk to you and share their passion and knowledge with you. These guys did just that. It was evident that, besides making a great cup of coffee, they take pride in what they do and find excitement in Grace’s growing success.

Today’s trip to the Middleton location was a win for us, and made us eager to try out the Sun Prairie, East Washington, and State Street locations as well. We were pleased to hear that there are other locations in the works!
